Diamond Cutting in Orpington, Bromley & Kent | Revamp Wheels

Many luxury car brands see diamond cut alloys as a must-have, and feature them as standard on vehicle models; BMW, Audi and Mercedes-Benz are just a few examples. But just because your vehicle came with, or currently features standard painted/powder coated rims, doesn’t mean you have to stick with them. Visit Revamp Wheels in Orpington, Kent – just a short drive from many bustling locales including Bromley – for diamond cutting. Our team, alongside providing wheel refurbishment and repair services, are diamond cutting specialists who can help you achieve this sought after look quickly and affordably.

The Diamond Cutting Process

Our Orpington workshop features a sophisticated machine lathe which allows us to shave material off of alloy wheels, leaving a faint grooved effect and a shiny finish that’s far more eye-catching than painted alloys, which often look dull and uninspired. A lacquer coat is applied at the end of the process to guard against corrosion. Once finished, diamond cut alloys have a shimmering quality that is much like a CD or DVD.

So what are the trade-offs, and why doesn’t everyone opt for diamond cutting over powder coated alloy wheels? Firstly, some wheels are not suitable for diamond cutting, and their suitability depends on their profile. Secondly, diamond cut wheels are said to be slightly less durable than painted/powder coated alloys. What’s more, they can be harder to refurbish than powder coated wheels. Refurbishment is still often possible, but if you damage your alloys multiple times you’ll likely need to replace them.

That’s why we recommend our customers round Bromley, Orpington and wider Kent stick with painted or powder coated wheels if they want something “rough and ready”, and only opt for diamond cutting if they’re keen on the stylish, modern aesthetic that diamond cutting offers.

Diamond cutting can be applied to both the full face and lip of the wheel, for maximum coverage. This can make for some incredible finishes. We’re always happy to share examples, if you’d like to see some of the diamond cutting projects we’ve delivered on for our clients in Bromley, our hometown of Orpington, and other areas of Kent.
